The Uttar Pradesh government has sanctioned over Rs 6.84 crore as compensation for damages caused to movable and immovable assets during the recent communal violence in Muzaffarnagar and its adjoining areas.
According to a home department release issued here today, compensation for damages to immovable property would be given in three categories - Rs 50,000, Rs 1 lakh and above Rs 1 lakh.
Similarly, compensation for damages to movable properties would be paid in three categories of up to Rs 25,000, Rs 50,000 and above Rs 50,000.
The assessment of losses is being done and the beneficiaries are being selected by respective district administration, the release stated, adding that those who had got their properties insured shall, however, not be covered under the scheme.
