Ahead of the Assembly elections that are due this year, Maharashtra cabinet today decided to give revised additional grade pay to government employees in certain posts where there is no scope for promotion.
The decision will cost Rs nine crore to the exchequer yearly, an official said.
In another decision, the cabinet sanctioned additional 200 beds at Beed district hospital, taking the total number of beds there to 500. The hospital will be upgraded, additional land would be made available for new constructions and 125 new posts would be created, the official said.

Cabinet also decided to exclude posts of assistant professors in Government Medical Colleges from the purview of Maharashtra Public Service Commission. A committee will now fill these posts.
The proposal to conduct elections for the posts of municipal council presidents and vice presidents was approved, and earlier decision to give extension to incumbents was revoked.
