Ration shop owners were today directed by the Delhi government to display clearly the inventory stock of all commodities and their prices, their working hours and their weekly off.

Delhi government today reissued a set of guidelines to the ration shop owners following complaints of non-adherence to the guidelines, issued earlier in this regard, by them and asked to implement it within seven days.

Kapil Mishra, incharge of the Food and Civil Supplies Department in the absence of Imran Hussain who has gone for Haj pilgrimage, also said ration card holders can rightfully look at the stock register, sale register, ration card register and cash memos of their ration store.

"Many of the guidelines were being reissued as they were not being adhered to. The owners will have to implement the orders within the next seven days," he told reporters at a press conference.

"All ration stores should put up a large information board outside their stores which will clearly define the working hours of the store as well as the weekly off. The store will display prominently the license number, inventory stock of all commodities and their prices in clear words outside the store.

"Any ration card holder has the right to look at the stock register, sale register, ration card register and cash memos in their ration store. Every FSO (Food and Supply Officer) will have to conduct a public townhall on the first and third Saturday of every month," an official statement said.

All the MLAs have also been asked to conduct monthly meeting of ration committees while the Assembly Ration Committee has been asked to submit its report to the Minister.
