Govt assures BMS to set up Transport Workers Welfare Board

The Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) today said the government has assured them to constitute a 'Transport Workers Welfare Board'.

Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari assured a 11-member delegation of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh to initiate constitution of a 'Transport Workers Welfare Board' at the earliest to look into the welfare of the workers.

A statement from the BMS said the minister also assured that the interest of the state transport corporations will be protected by the Centre.

The BMS demanded that the the period for renewing commercial licenses should be extended to five years instead of three years.

The delegation comprised state transport workers as well as private transport workers.
