The government on Thursday banned import of PET flakes made from used PET bottles.
"Import of PET flakes made from used PET bottles etc is prohibited," the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification.
PET flakes are generally produced by recycling PET bottles and are used as raw material for a range of products which would have otherwise used polyester.
