Govt committed to promote Khadi: Giriraj Singh

The Narendra Modi-led government is committed to promote Khadi and generate new jobs in the sector, Minister of State for Mini, Small and Medium Industry, Giriraj Singh said today.

"The central government has got a prime objective to make Khadi job-oriented and promote it in the country as well as at international level", the Minister said while addressing a workshop at Khadi Ashram in Dausa city.

"The government wants that at least ten per cent of women in rural areas be linked with Khadi production and each of the women worker gets at least Rs 5,000 per month," he said.
 

In the changing world of fashion, Khadi should be aggressively marketed as a fashionable product, he said, adding that Khadi production in every state is being assessed and reviewed by the Centre so that it could be exported to other nations.
