Delhi government today conducted surprise raids across the city in which eight persons were nabbed allegedly for making fake notaries prepared on forged documents and signature.
The action was taken after an information was received that the attestation of documents was being done by persons not entitled for the job. In many cases it was also found that the documents and seal used by them were "forged", officials said.
The District Magistrate (East) office conducted a surprise raid on notaries sitting around the office complex and arrested five persons. Other three persons were arrested from New Delhi, Patel Nagar and Paschim Vihar area respectively.

Five persons were apprehended in East District who were found to be attesting various affidavits using "forged" signatures and rubber stamps of notaries, the official said.
"Innocent public was being defrauded by impersonating as notaries. During the raid rubber seals of different notaries and gazetted officers were seized along with documents containing fake attestations," Kunal said.
A case of cheating, forgery under appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Notaries Act has been registered with Delhi Police.
