The tenure of IPS officer Meenu Choudhary as Private Secretary to Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has been curtailed and she has been appointed as PS to Law Minister D V Sadananda Gowda.

The move comes as government had last month announced merger of Overseas Indian Affairs Ministry with External Affairs.

The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has approved premature cessation of charge of Choudhary as PS to Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Sushma Swaraj, an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training said.

Choudhary, a 2000 batch IPS officer of union territories cadre, was appointed Swaraj's PS in June last year.

In another order, the ACC has also approved premature cessation of Jagmohan Sundriyal as Officer on Special Duty to Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and appointed him as his Private Secretary. Sundriyal also holds charge of Director in Rajya Sabha Secretariat.
