A government engineer and a tout were today arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs one lakh for clearing the bills of a contractor in Bheenmal city of Jalore district.

Sudesh Singh, assistant engineer with the public works department, and his tout Jabbar Singh were today caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs one lakh from road contractor Babulal to settle his bills, a spokesman of ACB said.

The duo had demanded a total of Rs 1.40 lakh from the contractor and Sudesh had already taken Rs 30,000 as advance, the spokesman said.
