Govt enhances ex-gratia to kin of protester of Ramban firing

Jammu and Kashmir government today enhanced the ex-gratia relief to Rs five lakh to the family of the man, who succumbed to injuries sustained during stone-pelting against Ramban firing incident.

"The cabinet which met here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah sanctioned Rs 5 lakh as extra ordinary ex-gratia relief in favour of the next of kin of Ravi Kant (Sharma) who died during the recent disturbances," an official spokesman said.

Omar yesterday had announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs two lakh to the family of the deceased.

Sharma had sustained critical injuries when he was hit by a stone on his head on July 19 during protests against the killing of four persons in security forces firing at Gool in Ramban district on July 18. He succumbed to injuries at SKIMS hospital here yesterday.
