Urban Development Secretary M H Khan reviewed progress of sewer and drinking water projects in the city and asked the concerned officials to ensure that work on them be carried out on a war footing to complete them on schedule.
"No laxity on part of the executing agencies in this regard will be tolerated. Work on these projects may go on for 16-18 hours a day if necessary to complete them on time," Khan said at a meeting with ADB and Urban Development Department officials.
Reminding officials of the December, 2013 deadline for completion of sewer and drinking water projects worth Rs 212 crore under ADB tranche-I, he said that if the public is made to suffer on account of neglect on part of the executing agencies, the defaulting companies will be penalised.
