Opposition Congress today alleged in the Assembly that the Naveen Patnaik government presented different figures on the number of pucca houses constructed in the state.

During Question Hour the Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra of Congress accused the government of misleading the House by pointing out that figures provided by Panchayati Raj Minister Pradip Maharathy on the number of pucca houses constructed under Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana and Mo Kudia Yojana did not match with the figures provided by the previous Panchayati Raj Minister Arun Sahu.

While Sahu had told the House in 2016 that 2,62,680 pucca houses were constructed in the state under the schemes, the present Panchayati Raj Minister Maharathy has stated to the House that 2,57, 894 pucca houses have been constructed.

"Both the replies are contradictory to each other. The minister replied that he can't tell about the earlier statement but whatever he has stated in his reply is correct, Mishra said.

Stating that opposition parties have been making repeated allegation that contradictory figures being given by the ministers, Mishra said the persons responsible for misleading the House should be subject to violation of privilege.

The House witnessed noisy scenes as the Congress members demanded a ruling from the Speaker on the matter.
