Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said his government had set a target of providing jobs to two lakh youths in the next two years through the Haryana VishwakarmaSkillUniversity.
Besides, efforts were also being taken to fill up the vacant posts in government departments, meant for the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Backward Classes (BC) categories, he told the representatives of the backward classes from all the districts of the state during an interactive session at his residence here.
Khattar also assured them that their suggestions would be considered while framing new policies and programmes.
The representatives complimented the Haryana government on various issues, including transparency in government jobs, abolishing the interview system for classes III and IV category jobs and for keeping a check on corruption in the administration, an official release said.
Khattar said Haryana had set up a skill development university, named after Lord Vishwakarma.
"Now, following the footsteps of Haryana, Rajasthan is also contemplating to set up a similar university," he added.
The chief minister said the university had introduced about 50 courses in various trades.
He added that a scheme was being prepared, as per which all the skill development centres of Haryana would run under the Skill Development Mission set up by the state government or under the university.
Khattar said Haryana had already constituted the Backward Classes Commission with an aim to ensure the welfare of those belonging to the backward classes in the state.
He added that during the tenure of about 30 months of his government, various steps had been taken to ensure transparency "at all the levels" in the state.
"The Public Distribution System (PDS) has been made online, which helped check the large-scale corruption prevailing in the distribution of foodgrains. The government has been successful in saving about 20,000 metric tonnes of foodgrains per month after the online system in PDS came into play," the chief minister said.
He added that a survey on the Swasthya Bima Yojna would be conducted in the state next month, on the basis of which various welfare schemes and programmes would be implemented.
Khattar urged the people to provide accurate information, so that those eligible could claim the benefits of government schemes, adding that the services of prominent people in the society and elected representatives would also be sought for the purpose.
