Hitting back, the Government today reminded Congress of Robert Vadra's controversial land deals and accused it of doing "negative politics" in the name of farmers as the main opposition party scaled up its offencive on land bill issue.

"Congress is doing negative politics in the name of Land Acquisition Bill and farmers. Truth is that the land of most farmers were acquired during Congress rule. Farmers land were given not only to corporates but also to close relatives of Gandhi family who also worked to capture lands in direct and indirect ways.

"At the time of Congress governments in Haryana and Rajasthan, the ways in which land was sold to a relative of Gandhi family were questioned. Will Rahul Gandhi answer these questions?" Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh today said, without naming Vadra.

Singh, a BJP MP from Bihar, alleged that Congress was "frustrated" and hence creating obstacle in the welfare activities for farmers.

"On the other hand, Prime Minister Modi led NDA government is working for the welfare and overall development of farmers. In the days to come, good results would come. So Rahul Gandhi should stop this negative politics because our Government is working in a positive manner for farmers and agriculture," Singh insisted.

Replying to a question, Singh said Rahul should tell why at the time of Congress government, maximum land of farmers were given to corporate families.

"The fact is that the Congress is misleading farmers and the country. Most farmers have committed suicide in the Congress rule for which its wrong policies are responsible. Rahul Gandhi and his Congress party has no moral right to speak on this issue," Singh said.

Singh also referred to Modi government adding the word "farmers welfare" in the name of Agriculture Ministry saying it proves that Modi government was working sincerely for the welfare of farmers.

His attack came as Congress today announced its plans to hold a mega rally at Ramlila ground on the land bill issue.
