Nursing staff and other para medical employees in the Government Rajiv Gandhi Women and Child Hospital here held a demonstration protesting 'lack of security' from attacks by parents whenever new born children die.

Led by Chairperson of the Nursing Staff Association Janaki, the agitators abstained from work for a few hours and staged the demonstration in the hospital.

They wanted the government to strengthen security at the hospital as the staff could never be faulted for any death.

They also said shortage of nursing staff were also causing strain and sought a full review of the staff strength should be made.

Two new born babies died within hours of birth in the hospital recently and the angry parents and members of certain organisations held a sit in dharna at the hospital.
