BJP in Jammu and Kashmir today accused the state government of ignoring the tourist potential of Kathua district in the state.

"The Kashmir-centric government has been deliberately ignoring the prospect of developing the tourist potential of Bani area of Kathua district and promoting its art," BJP candidate for Kathua-Udhampur-Doda, Dr Jitendra Singh said, addressing a public gathering at Bani in Kathua district.

Reiterating the demand for a separate hill district comprising Bani-Basohli-Billawar, Dr Singh said BJP had recognised it as a separate district but the government was yet to do it.

Attacking the sitting Congress MP, Chaudhary Lal Singh, the BJP leader said the former, despite being part of the ruling alliance, had failed to get a rail link to this area, which only a few kilometres away from the Pathankot-Kathua railway line.

Dr Singh appealed to the people to vote for BJP so that when Narendra Modi becomes the Prime Minister, the long-standing demands of the area could be addressed.
