The government has begun an exercise for setting in place water regulatory authorities across the country and guidelines are being prepared for all the states and other such entities, Central Water Commission Chairman Ashwin Pandya today said.
Inaugurating a seminar on 'Clean & Safe Drinking Water' under the aegis of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry here today, Pandya emphasised the need for new water policy to regulate, distribute and recycle water, be it ground water, surface water or other forms of it, a press release here said.
According to him, the water regulatory authorities would be able to indulge in an exercise of not only fixing the tariff but also regulating the water consumption for both domestic and industrial consumers.
In addition, the suggested authorities would also have mandate for formation of guidelines for water recycling, Pandya added.
