Govt makes GPS mandatory on bike hired on rent

Delhi government has issued guidelines for newly-introduced bike-on-rent facility, including installation of GPS.

Last month, transport department, on the lines of Goa, approved the plan of bike-on-rent facility, aiming at providing last mile connectivity to tourists and individual in the city.

"Installation of GPS in bike, hired through bike-on-rent facility, has been made mandatory to ensure safety measurement in place," said a government official.

The official also said that under the scheme, applicant may be individual, association of persons, firms, society and registered company.

"The applicant is required to submit character verification certificate of self and staff working under him from the Delhi Police," official said.
 

The Department said that a similar facility is available in Goa, where tourist can rent a motorbike for a day against the payment of daily charge.

According to the plan, tourists will be required to submit their identity at bike counters and thereafter, they would be given the bike on rent.
