Nityanand Chaubey, a Varanasi-based advocate, has alleged in his petition that the state government was planning to withdraw criminal cases against all those who have been named as accused in the CRPF camp attack case of December 31, 2007, in which seven security personnel were killed.

A bench of justices R K Agrawal and R S Maurya fixed November 22 as the next date of hearing.

According to reports, the Samajwadi Party government has decided to "review and withdraw" cases against those "falsely" implicated in terror cases, as promised by the ruling party in its manifesto, prior to the Assembly polls.

The move has drawn flak from opposition parties like the BJP.
