Govt notifies import policy for rough marble

The government today notified the import policy of rough marble and travertine blocks for the current fiscal with a quota of 8 lakh tonnes.

"Import policy of rough marble and travertine blocks for the year 2014-15 has been notified with a quota of 8 lakh MT and an MIP (minimum import price) of USD 325 per MT," the Directorate General of Foreign Trade said in a notification.

Units who have installed marble gangsaw machine in the name of the applicant would only be considered for the purpose of allocation of import entitlement, it said adding that "no gangsaw on lease basis shall be considered".
 

The units should have been in operation for five years on or prior to 31 March 2014.

"All eligible units...Should have cumulative turnover of at least Rs 5 crore during the 3 years period i.E. Financial years 2011-12 to 2013-14 irrespective of whether it is from domestic or foreign sources in respect of processed marble slabs/tiles only," it added.

It also said that the licenses for import of marble and travertine will have a validity up to December 31, 2015.

Further in a public notice, the DGFT has also notified the procedure for export of certified organic products.

It said a product will be allowed to be exported as "Organic Product" only when accompanied by a transaction certificate issued by a body accredited by National Accreditation Body for Organic Products under the National Programme for Organic Production of the Department of Commerce.
