The Land Acquisition Officer of East Champaran district was today arrested here for his alleged involvment in misappropriation of funds in the implementation of Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY)in 2005.
Kumar Amarkant, District Land Acquisition Officer (DLAO), was arrested from outside the collectorate premises for the alleged financial irregularities, the district magistrate's Officer On Special Duty (OSD) Pramod Kumar said.
The case dates back to 2005 when Amrkant was Block Development Officer (BDO) of Belganj block of Gaya district, he said adding that an FIR was lodged with the Belaganj police station at the directive of the then Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC), Gaya.
The arrest followed issuance of a warrant of arrest by an appropriate court, the police said.
