: Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi Friday declared January 14 a holiday for government offices in view of Bhogi festival.
The holiday is applicable to Puducherry, Karaikal and Yanam regions though it is not a holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, an official release said here.
All offices and institutions would compensate the holiday by functioning on February 2, the release said.
Earlier, the government had declared January 14 a restricted holiday but it is now declared a general holiday.
Now, there would be a series of holidays for six days from January 12 to 17.
