Govt official held for accepting Rs 20,000 bribe

Sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau have arrested a junior accountant for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 and will be produced before the court today.

Mahadev Meena, junior accountant of Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL) posted at Assistant Engineer Office in Sultanpur town of the district was held by ACB officials at noon yesterday while accepting the bribe, said ACB (Kota) Inspector Deendayal Bhargav.

He had demanded money for sorting out an electric consumption bill related error and the amount was recovered from his pocket, Bhargav said, adding he would be produced before the court today.

The accused had demanded a bribe from one Bhuvnesh, an e-Mitra kiosk operator at Semliya village for settling an increased amount of electricity bill, the inspector said.
 

Following Bhuvnesh's complaint regarding the matter to a senior official of JVVNL, the ACB was apprised about the same on Wednesday.

After verifying the complaint, a team of ACB officials laid a trap and arrested the junior accountant.
