One government official and five policemen were injured today after a protest over alleged power crisis turned violent in Jangipur area here, a district official said.
A number of people led by a student leader blocked road to protest against power crisis, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Arun Kumar Singh said.
Subsequently, Nayab tehsildar Lalta Prasad along with police reached the spot and tried to pacify the protesters, he added.

However, the protesters agitated with alleged misbehaviour by a police officer indulged into brick batting in which Prasad and five policemen got injured, Singh said.
The protesters alleged that police fired in air and resorted to tear gas shelling to disperse the crowd in which some persons were injured.
Meanwhile, a case has been lodged and some protesters were arrested, Singh added.
