A special court today sentenced
two government officials to undergo two years rigorous imprisonment in 2002 a bribe case and slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 each.
According to prosecution one Subburaj of Othakadai had applied for patta for a poramboke land to VAO and Revenue Inspector in 2002.
The VAO Rajangam and Revenue Inspector Suriyanarayana Moorthy demanded Subburaj Rs 25,000 each as bribe to issue the patta.
Subburaj complained to DVAC officials who laid a trap and arrested them.
The Special Court (Prevention of Corruption) judge Mathurasekharan Mathurasekharan sentenced them to two years RI and also fined them Rs 20,000 each.
