Amid a stand off between the government and the opposition over the demand for resignation of the Law Minister and Railway Minister, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today expressed the hope that a solution would be found to the issue soon.

He described corruption as a "major issue" and said "all sections of the society" should sit together to find a solution to the problem.

"Now that Parliament session is over, we hope to find a solution soon," Singh told reporters outside Parliament House when asked to comment on the stand off between the government and the opposition over the demand for resignation of Law Minister Ashwani Kumar and Railways Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal.

The deadlock resulted in a washout of the second half of the Budget Session which was abruptly adjourned sine die today, two days ahead of the scheduled culmination.

BJP has been stalling Parliament by pressing its demand for resignation of the Law Minister in connection with vetting of CBI status report on investigation into the coal block allocation scam.

The main opposition party has also been demanding Bansal's resignation over bribery allegations involving his nephew.
