Encouraged by the positive response to its Bharat Nirman campaign, the government is planning to highlight its accomplishments in last few years through the campaign globally as well as locally.

The campaign, which highlights government's initiatives in rural infrastructure projects like roads, housing and water supply, is significant for the government in view of general elections scheduled next year.

A lot of positive work has been accomplished (by the UPA government) in the last few years and it is important that this work is highlighted, I&B secretary Bimal Julka told PTI.

"The positive developments, which have had a strong effect on the lives of people, should also be highlighted," Julka said, adding that for this reason, some new videos of the Bharat Nirman campaign have been created to disseminate the information to region-specific audiences.

"We have created four new audio-video spots on government schemes like RTI, MNREGA, Aadhar and Food security which will be showed to cinema audience in tier II cities. The content will be in the same language as that of local people," Julka said.

The Ministry will also launch on Monday a Bharat Nirman portal which will take the government's message to audiences across the globe.

Julka said the portal would carry audio-video spots, publicity material and comprehensive information related to the campaign.

The I&B secretary also said that response for the campaign has been positive.

"A survey had been conducted by the Indian Institute of Mass Communication which revealed that around 65 to 66 per cent of the people who have come across Bharat Nirman campaign have responded favourably to it."

He said the survey had been conducted in about seven to eight states.

Julka said All India Radio and Doordarshan were also showing programmes which highlighted the good work done by the the government in villages across the country.

He said all field units of the Ministry were also active in spreading information about the UPA government's policies and schemes in urban as well as rural areas.
