The government plans to launch a round-the-clock channel that will telecast live and recorded programmes related to culture, a move aimed to take the rich cutural heritage to masses.
The Culture Ministry is in consultation with the Information and Broadcating Ministry for the proposed 24-hour-channel that is expected to be launched soon, a source said.
The channel will air the live performances, he said, adding there are thousands of recorded programmes with the various organisations of the Ministry which would also be telecasted.

But the web-telecast reach being limited, the Ministry proposes to launch the channel that will have wider audience.
The name of the channel that will be launched is yet to be decided but it could be 'DD Sanskriti', the source said.
The move is in line with various ministries, including Human Resource Development and Agriculture, having dedicated channels for them.
