Kerala cabinet today rejected a proposal to introduce five-day week in government offices in place of the existing six days.

Talking to reporters after a cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the cabinet decided not to approve the proposal put by general administration department and by other quarters to have five-day week in government offices.

To accelerate infrastructure under PPP model, it was decided to set up 'Partner Kerala Mission', he said.

The law department has been asked to come out with a Malayalam language law with a view to co-ordinating various steps taken by the government for the promotion of Malayalam as official language, Chandy said.
