The government today restricted exports of sandalwood oil, a move aimed at discouraging shipments of the commodity.
Earlier, exports of the oil was free from any restrictions.
"Export of sandalwood oil has been moved from 'Free' to 'Restricted' category'," the directorate general of foreign trade said in a notification.
In 2016-17, exports of sandalwood oil stood at USD 0.37 million.
