Govt school official caught taking Rs 1500 bribe

An accounts department employee of a government school at Dharampuri here was today allegedly caught taking a bribe of Rs 1500 in the new currency notes of Rs 500 denomination from a school teacher for paying his arrears.

The accused employee identified as Narendra Gupta (Assistant Grade-III) demanded a bribe of Rs 1500 from the complainant teacher for the payment of his arrears amounting to Rs 32,000, Lokayukta Police Inspector, Rajkumar Saraas said.

Acting on a tip-off, Lokayukta Police laid a trap and caught Gupta red-handed when he took money in the form of new currency of Rs 500 denomination from the complainant near Gayatri Shaktipeeth, the Inspector said.
 

Gupta was subsequently arrested and released on bail, he said adding a case under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against him in this regard.
