Govt seeks CJ's advice on use of Gujarati in HC proceedings

"Advice of the Chief Justice of India has been sought on the proposal (to use Gujarati in HC proceddings)...The proposal shall be processed for approval of the competent authority after advice of CJI," Law and Justice minister Salman Khurshid told Lok Sabha in reply to a question.

In response to another question, he said the Bar Council of India had proposed a new draft Code of Professional Standards, Ethics and Etiquette.

"This Code provides a general guide for ethical standards to be adhered to by members of the Bar whether practising individually or as a law firm and whether engaged in litigation or transactional/corporate work," Khurshid said.
