Govt seeks dignitaries list flashing beacon lights from states

Government has sought the list of dignitaries from state governments and union territories flashing red lights on their vehicles in order to ensure they are complying with the Supreme Court order in this regard.

The government had sought comments from Minister of External Affairs, Minister of Finance and Minister of Home Affairs on the Ministry's (Road Transport and Highways) proposed revised lit of dignitaries entitled to use red beacon while on duty and the same was supported, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Pon Radhakrishnan told Lok Sabha in a written reply.

"Subsequently, all the state governments/union territories have been asked to furnish inputs on their list of dignitaries using red beacon to ensure that the state/UTs are complying with the Supreme Court order," Radhakrishnan said.
