Govt sensitive to Army's demands: Bahuguna

Chairing the civil military liaison conference held here after a gap of seven years between the state government and the Central Command Headquarters, Bahuguna said the government is sensitive to their demands which will be fulfilled at the earliest.

Possibilities of launching development projects in cantonment areas under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission will be explored, he said.

The chief minister said be it guarding the frontiers, developing infrastructure in border areas, making education and health facilities available to locals or relief and rescue operations during natural calamity, the Army's role has been highly praiseworthy.

Addressing the meeting, Central Command GOC Lt Gen Anil Chait raised several issues related to the Army including the need for putting in place a mechanism to for early resolution of problems faced by armed forces personnel.

 

He also demanded concession in house tax, stamp duty and VAT on electronic equipment purchased from CSD canteen by Army personnel.
