A Congress member today raised in the Lok Sabha the issue of Indian fishermen reportedly detained by Iranian authorities for straying into their territory and demanded government's intervention to secure their release.
The detention of Indian fishermen, working for a Saudi Arabian firm, who strayed into Iranian territory is a big problem, Congress MP from Tamil Nadu S S Ramasubbu said.
Noting that Indian fishermen are suffering in captivity in Iran, he said among them are some from Tamil Nadu.

"The government should take all steps to ensure these fishermen are released immediately," he said during the Zero Hour.
Many Indian fishermen were arrested by Iranian Coastguard.
Kirti Premjibhai Solanki (BJP) urged the Centre to support the development of power sector in Gujarat.
Noting that Gujarat is a model for balanced development, he said issues related to gas and coal allocation need to be resolved.
