Government today hit out at the BJP for adopting "double standards" on the issue of CBI and said it should first clarify whether it has faith in the investigating agency or not.
Commenting on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's remarks on "misuse" of CBI by the government, Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said, "The BJP adopts double standards on the issue of CBI. In Haren Pandya case the BJP has a different stand, in some other case it has a different stand. BJP should first decide on whether they have confidence in CBI or not."
He added, "All probes by CBI in fake encounters are being done on court directions. Gujarat government has already given its permissions in all such cases."
