The government today said it has taken several steps including online processing of various activities to facilitate ease of doing business in special economic zones (SEZs).
Activities related to developers and units in SEZs were identified and timelines for completion were prescribed and implemented, an official statement said.
It said that digitization and online processing of various activities relating to SEZ developers and units has been introduced in all zones from November 1.

These moves assumes significance as government is taking several other measures to improve investment climate and improve India's ranking in the ease of doing business index.
India has been ranked 142 among the 189 countries in the latest report of the World Bank, falling two places from last year's ranking.
