"As of now SSP rank officer has been conducting the inquiry and we have been thinking of having a high-level probe into the matter," Badal said here.
He, however, rejected the opposition's demand of Ranike's resignation over the issue, saying that the law will take its own course.
Punjab's minister Gulzar Singh Ranike's PA Sarbhdyal Singh has been accused of opening a number of dummy bank accounts in the name of dummy sarpanches (village headmen) and later the amount to the tune of Rs 1.15 crore was encashed by the PA.
The cheques were issued by the minister as a development grant for 12 villages in Amritsar district.
The Minister's PA Sarbhdyal Singh is absconding ever since the issue came to fore in June this year.
