Assam Government would constitute a Skill Development Corporation soon for development of the populace in the rural areas, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said.
A press release issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) today quoted Gogoi as saying, "more than 80 per cent of the populace live in the rural areas. The state cannot forge ahead if the rural areas do not march ahead on the path of progress and development. That is why our thrust all along has been on rural development".
"We want to raise the productivity of the farmers and the income of the people living in the rural areas. The state will make progress only if the rural economy prospers," he said.
Gogoi also urged Block Development Officers (BDOs) to work with dedication and sincerity for the development of the rural areas and alleviate the peoples economic lot there.
