As it plans a complete revamp of the way Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) works, the Information and Broadcasting ministry is also planning to explore the models that are followed in other countries like the United States of America (USA).
A senior ministry official today said that as the ministry reviews the functioning of the CBFC, it will also look at how ratings are given to movies in United States and other countries where such process is voluntary in nature.
Speaking to reporters, another senior official said that the Ministry favours a liberal creative environment but it is also conscious that there needs to be a framework so that films which can affect friendly relations with other nations or are against national interest are not allowed to be shown.
