Union Minister Birender Singh today said the Centre is working on a programme under which four different breeds of cow will be cross-bred to create a new variety.
"The central government is making efforts to create a new variety of cow by cross-breeding four different breeds of the animal under a new programme. This new variety will prove to be a boon for cattle-rearers," the minister told reporters here but did not give more details.
He said Haryana government was committed to protecting cows and developing cow shelters in the state and a bill was unanimously passed by the assembly last year in this regard.
