Govt to launch water conservation scheme on Upadhyaya's birth

Commemorating the birth anniversary of late Jana Sangh leader Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, the Ministry of Water Resources will launch a National Water Conservation and Water Enrichment Scheme on September 25.

An announcement to this effect was made by Union Minister of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Uma Bharati while addressing a meeting of the Director level officials here today, a release issued here said.

The birth anniversary of the late Jana Sangh leader falls on September 25.

It comes close on the heels of a decision that the Delhi municipal bodies, including NDMC and DDA, will undertake 'Swachha Bharat Abhiyan' from September 25.
 

Upadhyaya, a source of ideological guidance and moral inspiration for the BJP since its inception, was the leader of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh from 1953 to 1968.
