Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma today said the state government will spend Rs 8 crore on beautification and development of the Mata Chamunda and the Himani Chamunda temples near here.
"The city has seen various stages of development in the last five years and has the distinction of becoming the first from Himachal Pradesh to be selected under the Centre's Smart City Project," he said.
The minister said both these temples and the areas surrounding themshall be "uplifted" and "beautified" at a cost of Rs 8 crore.

"The state government has sanctioned Rs 5.25 crore for the development of the Mata Chamunda temple area," he said.
The Mata Chamunda temple is located at 5,000 feet and is 13 km from the Himani Chamunda temple.
"To promote tourism, the concept of home-stay shall be popularised," the local MLA said.
