The junior doctors' strike is unwarranted and illegal and the state government will take legal action against them for jeopardising the lives of ailing encephalitis patients, state Health Minister Ashwani Chaube said here.

The Minister was addressing a function in Raghopur village near Patna to launch a campaign for saving the girl child.

Chaube flayed the junior doctors for assaulting PMCH Superintendent O P Chaudhary and said those involved in the incident would not be spared.

The Health minister also appealed to the striking doctors to withdraw their agitation as he had already promised to look into their demands, including adequate security in the hospital.

Chaube said if the agitating doctors do not pay heed to to his plea, then the state government will penalise them if any life was lost due to lack of medical treatment, including those of patients suffering from Acute Encephalitis Syndrome.
