Govt treasury accountant in ACB net

Senior accountant in sub-treasury office in Srikakulam was today caught accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant for doing an official favour, an ACB officer said.

The accused Bendi Mohana Rao was caught accepting money from a retired employee.

According to a senior ACB official in Srikakulam, Rao had initially demanded Rs 50,000 to settle the pension dues and gratuity of the retired employee. However, the amount was later fixed at Rs 25,000.

The complainant then approached the ACB officials, who laid a trap and caught Rao red-handed.

The ACB officials also conducted raids at the residences of Rao and his relatives.
