Govt trying to destroy Kudumbashree: Brinda Karat

Expressing solidarity with the 'Kudumbashree Protection Samithi' women activists, whose day and night sit-in dharna in front of the secretariat here entered the sixth day, she charged the government with trying to deprive Kudumbashree of its funds by diverting it to Janashree Mission.

"It is condemnable," she said, adding, it will not be allowed.

The Kudumbashree protesters demands include cancellation of Rs.14.36 crore sanctioned to Janashree Mission under the Centre-supported Rashtriya Krishi Yojana.

Meanwhile, CPI-M state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan sought Chief Minister Oommen Chandy's intervention in the matter.
