The government was trying to use modern technology in every aspect of its functioning as much as possible to make delivery faster and groom the young generation in its use, Minority Affairs Minister Najma Heptullah said here today.

"Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very modern technology savvy... In every ministry we are trying to use as much modern technology as possible," she said in her speech at Darbari Seth memorial lecture.

It has made delivery easier, she said, citing example of her ministry which allows students to fill up forms online for scholarships so that money can be transferred to them, dispensing with the need for them to come here.

Delivering the 13th Darbari Seth, who was the founder of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), former Indian Institute of Astrophysics Director Siraj Hasan said human activity could be behind the rise in global temperature in short term but solar factor is also a key factor in climate change in long term.

Hasan delivered a lecture on 'Journey to the Sun: a gateway to the stars and the universe'.

TERI Director General R K Pachauri also spoke on the occasion.
