Govt wants to increase share of ethanol in fuel mix: Pradhan

The Centre was aiming to have more than 10 per cent ethanol mixed in petrol in near future which would benefit the sugarcane farmers and sugar factories, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said here today.

While UPA Government offered Rs 16-17 per litre for ethanol, NDA Government was offering Rs 49.5 per litre, he told reporters after visiting the famous Saibaba temple here.

In the last two years the Government had purchased ethanol worth Rs 6,000 crore, he added.
