The AAP government today warned Gramin Sewa owners of taking strict action against them if they do not install Global Positioning System (GPS) in their vehicles.
According to a senior official, GPS is mandatory in Gramin Sewa, but there are several vehicles plying without a such device for a long time.
Transport Minister Gopal Rai today held a review meeting with department officials and representatives of Gramin Sewa's association.

Recently, the transport department issued a notice to such permit holders for not having this device in their vehicles.
The government, however, gave a relief to these vehicle owners by asking them to get their permit renewed by August 16.
"The transport minister has directed the owners of Gramin Sewa to get their vehicle permits renewed by August 16 and till then, department officials will not impound their vehicles," official also said.
In the meeting, representatives of Gramin Sewa demanded to change the routes and on which, the minister has directed transport department to verify all records pertaining to routes and a final decision will then be taken.
