Graft can be eliminated by simple living, says TN Guv

Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit today said corruption can be eliminated when all Indians decide to lead a simple life.

"How to eliminate corruption? The moment all Indians, we decide to lead a simple life...simple living," he said, addressing an event.

Even Mahatma Gandhi had spoken about the importance of leading a simple life, the Governor said, adding simple living and high thinking was needed for the progress of the country.

"Everybody should be satisfied," he said addressing a function held by the United Writers' Association and the Frank Moraes Foundation.

Rather than aspiring for a costly, luxurious car,it would be better to stay with a "Maruti" car and by imbibing such an attitude of simple living with satisfation, corruption can be eliminated, he said.

 

"For everybody I am telling, lead a simple life.. practice it."

On the Indian economy, he said the growth prospects are positive due to the nations young population, corresponding low dependency ratio, healthy savings and investment rates, and increasing integration into the global economy.

India topped theWorld Bank growth outlook for the first time in fiscal year 201516, during which the economy grew 7.6 per cent, he said.

"..the World Bank sees India as the fastest growing major emerging economy for the next 3 years. It is expected that the economy will see a robust GDP growth of 7.3 per cent in 2018-19 and 7.5 per cent for the next two years," he said.
